Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes–South Metro

Jonesboro, Ga. (October 27, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Mike Roby, Area Director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes–South Metro (FCA-SM) and Jacob Johnson, Assistant Area Director of FCA-SM on October 22, 2015. The $1,500 grant will used to provide scholarships to student-athletes and coaches from Henry and Clayton counties so they can attend various FCA summer camps. These camps include team building, character-building studies and leadership training. In 2015, FCA-SM sent approximately 1080 students and coaches to camps with an investment of about $30,000. Based on the inquiries about 2016 that have been received so far, they anticipate needing funds for roughly 1200 students and coaches. continue reading →


Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to Arts Clayton, Inc.

Jonesboro, Ga. (October 27, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Linda Summerlin, Executive Director of Arts Clayton, Inc. and Elizabeth Gower, Director of Administration & Education of Arts Clayton, Inc. on October 21, 2015. The $1,500 grant will used to help fund the ArtVan Mobile Literacy Initiative/eReaders Pilot Project Phase 2.  The ArtVan is a mobile literacy initiative which uses hands-on art activities in curriculum-based programs to grow reading skills for success in school and life. In 2014, Arts Clayton initiated Phase 1 of the project by serving seven Clayton County after-school locations. The initial pilot project introduced tablet computers to at-risk students by utilizing book downloads to allow the ArtVan’s certified instructors more interaction and creativity. Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to Rainbow House, Inc.

Jonesboro, Ga. (October 23, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Sherrelle McKinley-Thomas, Executive Director of Rainbow House, Inc., and Keesha Dabney, Developmental Director of Rainbow House, Inc., on October 13, 2015. The $3,260 grant will used by Rainbow House to purchase 20 new mattresses for its residents. Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to United Food Force, Inc.

Jonesboro, Ga. (October 23, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Rhonda Miller, CEO of United Food Force, Inc. and Vance McCutcheon, Vice President/CFO of United Food Force, Inc. on October 14, 2015. The $2,500 grant will used by United Food Force to purchase a new forklift. Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to Fuller Center for Housing, Inc.

Jonesboro, Ga. (September 17, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Shane Persaud, President of Fuller Center for Housing, Inc. (HCFC) and Wayne Smith, Vice President of HCFC in McDonough on September 16, 2015. The $4,000 grant will be used by Fuller Center to purchase specialized tools and equipment. Although its volunteers are able to furnish some of the needed tools and equipment, HCFC is often hindered due to a lack of all necessary tools when they arrive to a project site. This grant will help HCFC establish a tool and equipment base that would be supplemented by volunteers rather than furnished by volunteers, and will enable them to organize and outfit their HCFC trailer to store tools, equipment, materials, safety gear, etc. continue reading →


Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to Pregnancy Resource Center of Henry County

Jonesboro, Ga. (September 11, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Kimberly King, Executive Director of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Henry County (PRC), and Jeanie Murphy, Nurse Manager of PRC, on September 8, 2015. The $1,600 grant will used by PRC to purchase a one hundred (100) pack of OraQuick ADVANCE® Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody Tests and the necessary control kits. Until now, the PRC could not offer oral mouth swab testing for HIV due to financial limitations. Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to House of Dawn, Inc.

Jonesboro, Ga. (August 7, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Dawn Murray, CEO, House of Dawn, Inc. on July 28, 2015. The $3,100 grant will be used by House of Dawn to purchase and install a privacy fence at its newest facility for homeless young mothers in Riverdale.
