Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes–South Metro

Jonesboro, Ga. (October 27, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Mike Roby, Area Director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes–South Metro (FCA-SM) and Jacob Johnson, Assistant Area Director of FCA-SM on October 22, 2015. The $1,500 grant will used to provide scholarships to student-athletes and coaches from Henry and Clayton counties so they can attend various FCA summer camps. These camps include team building, character-building studies and leadership training. In 2015, FCA-SM sent approximately 1080 students and coaches to camps with an investment of about $30,000. Based on the inquiries about 2016 that have been received so far, they anticipate needing funds for roughly 1200 students and coaches.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ mission is to present to coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. For more than 50 years, they have been inspiring coaches and athletes of all ages, from youth to professional levels, to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. Students are trained in leadership skills so they can return to their high school campuses to be role models and leaders for FCA meetings, where all the student body is welcome.
