Jonesboro, Ga. (September 11, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Kimberly King, Executive Director of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Henry County (PRC), and Jeanie Murphy, Nurse Manager of PRC, on September 8, 2015. The $1,600 grant will used by PRC to purchase a one hundred (100) pack of OraQuick ADVANCE® Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody Tests and the necessary control kits. Until now, the PRC could not offer oral mouth swab testing for HIV due to financial limitations. The HCF grant will allow this type of testing to be added to its current program, which already includes STD/STI testing.
The Pregnancy Resource Center of Henry County is located in McDonough, Georgia and is a pregnancy care clinic committed to providing women and men with up-to-date information and services in order to make informed decisions about pregnancy, sexual health, and relationships. The purpose and objective of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Henry County (PRC) is to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women and their families so that lives can be saved (physically and spiritually) and that God will be glorified. The PRC is committed to promoting abstinence until marriage as the healthiest choice for birth control and STD/STI prevention, bringing help and hope to those in our community who are unprepared for pregnancy, and offering parenting and relationship education to create safe and healthy families. The PRC also provides free sexually-transmitted disease testing. This testing allows women to seek proper medical treatment, along with receiving education and counseling for emotional and spiritual issues.
