Jonesboro, Ga. (July 25, 2017) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a $1,500 grant to Dr. Loida Bonney, Executive Director of the Fayette CARE Clinic to purchase a portable chiropractic treatment table for the clinic patients with back pain issues. Fayette CARE Clinic provides a range of healthcare services at no cost for uninsured patients in Fayette County.

“The Heritage Community Foundation is pleased to partner with the Fayette CARE Clinic to provide the resources for a new chiropractic treatment table,” said Mark Dose, Executive Director of the Heritage Community Foundation. “Dr. Bonney and her team at Fayette CARE Clinic provide important access to primary health care and other specialized medical services for the uninsured and working poor of Fayette County. This treatment table will help them address the needs of the many patients with back pain issues. ClearWater Academy focuses on providing students with special needs effective academic instructional experiences along with life-skills training.

Jonesboro, Ga. (May 04, 2017) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a $2,500 grant to Sabrina Crawford, Founder of GiGi’s House for the purchase of laptop computers for the residents of the new facility. GiGi’s House is dedicated to providing a safe home for girls 13 to 19 years old who are victims of sex trafficking. In addition to a safe faith-based housing environment, GiGi’s House provides educational services, therapy, mentoring life-skills coaching and encouragement to girls victimized by sex trafficking.

Jonesboro, Ga. (July 13, 2017) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a $1,800 grant to Karen Gillespie, Board Chair for the Fayette Grandparents and Kin Raising Children organization for the purchase of book bags, technology and supplies for the upcoming school year.

“Many of the caregivers supported by this organization are single and elderly and many times they need special support” said Mark Dose, Executive Director of the Heritage Community Foundation. “We are pleased to be able to support their efforts in assuring the children being cared for by grandparents or relatives have adequate supplies for the upcoming school year.”

“We learned that there are over 1,200 homeless students attending Henry County schools”, said Mark Dose, Executive Director of the Heritage Community Foundation. “Operation Lunchbox provides a significant resource to help feed these children over the summer months when they do not have access to the school system’s breakfast and lunch program. Operation Lunchbox is structured to provide a bag of non-perishable groceries once a week during the 8 weeks of summer break so these students have a routine supply of food to eat. This grant provides resources so they can continue to meet the needs of these homeless children in our area”.

The computer upgrade will allow the organization to optimize the benefits of the electronic health record used in the care of their patients.
