Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to Clayton State University.

Clayton State & Heritage Community Foundation

Jonesboro, Ga. (March 27, 2017) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Dr. Thomas J. (Tim) Hynes, President, and Kate Troelstra, Vice President of University Advancement, of Clayton State University (CSU) in Morrow on March 1, 2017. The $2000 grant will become part of the CSU Foundation’s Retention Scholarship Fund. This fund is administered through the Financial Aid Office to students who demonstrate the most need. Each fall, 25-30 students end up dropping out for the semester so that they can earn enough money to pay for their education. History shows that many of these students will not re-enroll and will never see their dream of a college degree realized. The Retention Scholarship Fund helps these students reach the finish line and graduate from college.

The Clayton State University Foundation’s mission is to assist Clayton State University by attracting financial and other resources to achieve the University’s mission and goals to educate students, support faculty and staff, and increase community awareness. Its goal as a foundation is to enhance the education experience provided by the university through financial and community support. As a member of the University of Georgia System, Clayton State University provides a high quality education to its students and provides many support services to our local community. The University is limited as to how it can spend state funds and tuition dollars; therefore, its fundraising efforts allow the foundation to support students and faculty through tax deductible contributions that are received as an IRS designated 501c3 organization.
