Heritage Community Foundation Presents Grant to Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center

Jonesboro, Ga. (May 11, 2016) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Luci Hough, Director of the Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center (FPRC) on April 13, 2016. The $1,600 grant will be used to purchase 32 car seats for the expectant mothers who will complete the non-profit’s child safety class this year. The car seats are an important part of the class that is designed to foster safer parenting. In addition to car seat safety, topics such as preparing for delivery, postpartum depression, sleep safety, and shaken baby syndrome are covered in the class. Many of these subjects are taught by a registered nurse. Expectant fathers are also welcome and encouraged to attend the class.

Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center is a non-profit organization that offers support to women facing an unplanned pregnancy. They serve women of all ages, as well as their families, husbands, boyfriends and friends. The center has been operating in Fayette County since May of 1994. Since they opened their doors, they have had the privilege of serving thousands of women and their families by offering free pregnancy tests, counseling, and resources for pregnancy and parenting. In January of 2014, they officially opened their doors as a medical center and have expanded their services to include pregnancy testing and ultrasounds done by a medical professional. In addition to these medical services, FPRC continues to offer services to help women and families throughout their pregnancy and beyond by providing educational opportunities, guidance from a client advocate, and resources from their clothes closet.
