A Friend’s House

A Friend’s House operates as a home for children in the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services. The doors opened on October 27, 1998 and 1,895 children have been welcomed since. Residents stay for an unspecified length of time while a best course of action is determined based on a child’s assessment needs. A Friend’s House is dedicated to meeting the emotional and physical needs of children by offering counseling, medical treatment, academic assistance and recreational opportunities. >

Academy for Advanced Studies, The

The Academy for Advanced Studies was founded in Fall of 2009, and its mission is to ensure each student graduates high school with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for college and career success. In fulfilling this mission, AASensures each student is actively engaged in rigorous, relevant and innovativeinstructional programs. >

Alzheimer’s Services Center, Inc.

The mission of Alzheimer’s Services Center (ASC) is to enhance and prolong the highest quality of life possible for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other related disorders and for those who are their caregivers. It offers affordable adult day services, respite care, and support services. >

Arts Clayton, Inc.

Arts Clayton, Inc. is a non-profit community arts organization dedicated to enriching lives through the Arts. Through the support of its partners, members, artists and patrons, it brings the community together with children’s art programs, a full-time public art gallery in historic downtown Jonesboro and educational opportunities. >

Association of Village PRIDE, Inc.

Association of Village PRIDE, Inc. (AVPRIDE) is a Youth Leadership Development organization that offers tutoring, mentoring and youth development programs that work with elementary, middle, and high school students and their families to address the attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and circumstances that put them at risk for engaging in unhealthy behaviors.

Bloom connects caring adults with at-risk children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect as well as pregnant and teenage parents. Bloom foster parents provide physical, educational and emotional support in order to strengthen these children for the next phase of life. >

Clayton State University

The CSU Foundation’s Retention Scholarship Fund is administered through the Financial Aid Office to students who most demonstrate need. Each fall, 25-30 students end up dropping out for the semester so that they can earn enough money to pay for their education. History shows that many of these students won’t re-enroll and will never see their dream of a college degree realized. The Retention Scholarship Fund helps these students reach the finish line and graduate from college. >

Clearwater Academy

ClearWater Academy is a private, accredited, state-of-the-art, 501(c)(3) school located in Tyrone,GA, for students diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, mild Autism, Language Processing Delays, ADD, ADHD, Sensory Integration Disorder, PDD/NOS, and Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities. ClearWater Academy strives to be a national model for how students with learning differences from all ages and learning levels should be educated. >

Communities In Schools

Communities In Schools (CIS) started in Georgia more than 30 years ago and is now the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization. The CIS model has been implemented in all 11 middle schools in Henry County since August 2012. The mission of CIS is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. It is the goal of CIS to support youth by improving graduation rates, encouraging academic achievement, and promoting job and post-secondary school readiness. >

Connecting Henry

Connecting Henry, a nonprofit organization, is the local branch of the Georgia Family Connection in Henry County which assists with planning, implementing or incubating programs and services to strengthen children and families. The organization fields calls from individuals, non-profit organizations, churches and businesses to link them to existing resources within the community. >

Crosswalk Ministries USA, Inc.

Crosswalk Ministries USA, Inc. (Crosswalk)’s mission is to reduce juvenile crime and address its underlying causes by providing Christ-centered preventive and aftercare programs for at-risk youth. Their desire is to give hope for a better future to juvenile offenders and offer healing for families affected by incarceration. Crosswalk believes that every person has value and potential, one’s future is not defined by his past, and negative cycles of behavior can be broken. >

Fayette County Education Foundation

The Fayette County Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that solely supports the Fayette County Public School System. It was established by community members, the Fayette County Public School System, and the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce to promote enhanced learning opportunities for students and staff. The Foundation funds innovative, creative programs that are typically above and beyond the normal operating budget of the school system.

Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center

Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center is a non-profit organization that offers support to women facing an unplanned pregnancy. They serve women of all ages, as well as their families, husbands, boyfriends and friends. Since they opened their doors, they have had the privilege of serving thousands of women and their families by offering free pregnancy tests, counseling, and resources for pregnancy and parenting. >

Fayette Senior Services

Fayette Senior Services, Inc., has been making a meaningful difference in the emotional, social and physical well-being of older adults by preserving their independence, improving their quality of life and connecting them to the community since 1978. >

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ mission is to present to coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. Students are trained in leadership skills so they can return to their high school campuses to be role models and leaders for FCA meetings, where all the student body is welcome. >

Ferst Foundation

The mission of The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy (FFCL) is to improve childhood literacy in Henry County by providing free books to preschool children. The most crucial years in a child’s development occur within the first 3 years, and FFCL’s vision is to give every child the best chance to succeed in school, in life, and to give Georgia an educated, productive and competitive work force. >

Forest Park Ministers Association

The Forest Park Ministers Association is an organization that was formed to bring together citizens, government, businesses and the church to help understand one another. By building partnerships among the local faith-based community, schools, and other community leaders, FPMA is able to recognize the needs of the community and work to meet them in tangible ways.

Fuller Center, The

The Fuller Center is located in McDonough, Georgia and is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that seeks to eradicate poverty housing by promoting partnerships with individuals and community groups to build and rehabilitate homes for people who are unable to secure adequate housing by conventional means. All homeowners work hand-in-hand with volunteers to build their own homes, which are then sold to them on terms they can afford, based on the Biblical idea of no-profit, no-interest loans. >

Genealogical Society of Henry & Clayton Counties, Inc.

The Genealogical Society of Henry & Clayton Counties, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources to assist in genealogical research. >

Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Clinic’s mission is to provide low- or no-cost primary medical care to uninsured residents of Clayton County who have limited financial resources. The goal of Good Shepherd Clinic is to witness to the ministry of Christ by providing quality health care in an atmosphere of dignity and respect for all. >

H.O.P.E Park

The H.O.P.E. Park Community Garden is a teaching garden designed to help children and adults learn how to grow, harvest, prepare and preserve health by food in small spaces. The garden is open to the public across the Southern Crescent Area and is currently run by volunteers. The community garden is the first phase in the H.O.P.E. Park project which will include at a later date recreational fields for handicapped and non-handicapped athletes. >

Hands of Hope

Hands of Hope is a faith-based nonprofit clinic which gives “hope” to the underserved and uninsured residents of Henry County through quality medical and dental care resulting in individual and community health and well-being. >

Haven House

Haven House is a domestic violence shelter and program serving victims of family violence in Henry, Jasper, Butts and Lamar Counties. The shelter for women and children strives for an atmosphere of caring and safety. It provides for both privacy and socialization, with trained staff available to help guide residents through the process of finding legal protection and moving to more permanent housing. >

Helping in His Name Ministries

Helping in His Name Ministries (aka The Food Pantry) is an ecumenical non-profit organization that provides temporary emergency help to the hungry and needy people of Henry County. The mission of Helping In His Name Ministries, Inc. is to model the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by providing free food to the unemployed, the underemployed, the elderly, and single parents. No one with a legitimate need is refused help. >

Henry Arts Alliance

Henry for Music seeks to help students participate in music education by providing musical instruments to students who currently desire to be members of their school’s orchestra or band, but cannot afford the cost of renting or purchasing an instrument. >

Henry Council for Quality Leadership

Henry Council for Quality Leadership, Inc. (HCQLE) was recently formed as a 501(c)3 entity by the Henry Council for Quality Growth (HCFQG) to help facilitate the launch of The Leader in Me program in Henry County. The purpose of The Leader in Me program is to teach 21st century leadership and life skills to students and to create a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. >

Henry County Cancer Services

Henry County Cancer Services is a non-profit organization that exists to lend a helping hand to individuals and families struggling with the effects of cancer on their lives. Their dedicated team of volunteers works together to meet the needs of the patients, to raise community awareness and to manage the day-to-day administration of the program. >

Henry County Council on Child Abuse

Prevent Child Abuse Henry County’s mission is to stop child abuse and neglect before it begins by connecting parents and families with help, support, and educational materials and programs. They continuously advocate new programs and policies that will increase the community’s awareness, offer support to the affected families, and prevent the abuse from continuing. >

Henry Horizons

The mission of Henry Horizons is to give teens and young adults the tools they need to become successful members of the community. This involves education, mentoring, career building, and problem solving. Through partnerships with local businesses, career training centers and community agencies, the program supports youth in building a positive and productive future. >

Historical Jonesboro

The mission of Historical Jonesboro/Clayton County, Inc. is to preserve and promote the heritage of and interest in the historical background of Jonesboro, Clayton County, and Georgia. They provide an agency through which people are able to pool their resources and expertise. >

House of Dawn

House of Dawn was founded in the year 2000 and its mission has always been to provide a stable, loving home for teen/young mothers and their children under adult supervision and to provide them with educational opportunities and life skills they will need to become independent, self-supporting women. >

Jonesboro Crisis Pregnancy Center

Jonesboro Crisis Pregnancy Center (JCPC) is a Christ-centered ministry committed to upholding the sanctity of human life by demonstrating the love of Christ to women facing crisis pregnancies through the provision of spiritual, physical and emotional support. JCPC assists women in making life-affirming decisions by helping them make plans to keep and parent their babies, or by helping them make an adoption plan. >

Lekotek of Georgia

Lekotek (‘play library’) is based on a Scandinavian model of early intervention and special education. The heart of Lekotek is the play session for children aged 0 to 12, with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, hearing and/or visual impairments, language delays, chronic and/or terminal illnesses, and genetic disorders. >

Life & Money Matters

The Mission of Life and Money Matters is to instruct, educate and coach individuals in the areas of personal finance and estate planning, using practical and concise strategic concepts. The programs available range from those designed to help newlyweds learn to work together to avoid the pitfalls of accumulating debt to those created to guide families who need advice on saving and estate planning. >

Life Radio Ministries, Inc. (NewLife.FM)

NewLife.FM is a Christian radio station with music and programs which provide inspiration and Bible teaching as well as family-oriented programming. The station also broadcasts news and weather and airs public service announcements for non-profit events and organizations.

The MOMS Club (Moms Offering Moms Support) of Fayetteville, Georgia is a chapter of the International MOMS Club, a non-profit, non-denominational support organization for the mother-at-home of today. Membership in the MOMS Club is open to at-homemothers and moms who work part-time or out of the home. >

Pregnancy Resource Center of Henry County

Pregnancy Resource Center of Henry County is a pregnancy care clinic committed to providing women and men with up-to-date information and services in order to make informed decisions about pregnancy, sexual health,and relationships. >

Promise Place

The mission of Promise Place is to prevent domestic violence through awareness programs and educational training and provide safe environments for victims and their families by utilizing legal advocacy, emergency shelter, and transitional housing.

Rachel’s Ray of Hope

Rachel’s Ray of Hope opened its clothes closet in July 2015 with a mission to help children in the Fayette County School district whose families are struggling to provide basic necessities for their children. Rachel’s Ray of Hope is there to ensure the children in these difficult circumstances are given the opportunity for academic success. >

Rainbow House

The goal of Rainbow House is to rebuild lives and restore families by providing services to children who have been exposed to some type of physical, sexual or emotional abuse. The staff prides itself on providing consistency in each child’s life while they are away from their family and home. Through this love, compassion and support, the children tend to thrive academically and socially while in the care of Rainbow House. >

Raise Me Up

Raise Me Up is a 501(c)(3) organization that strives to prevent the sexual abuse of children. Instead of responding to the issue with fear and denial, Raise Me Up encourages adults to educate themselves about the issue and actively employ policies and procedures that promote prevention.

Rebuilding Lives Workshop

Rebuilding Lives Workshop’s ultimate goal is to help each individual that walks through its doors by increasing coping skills, life skills, emotional self-regulation skills, anger management skills and self- awareness. They offer counseling services and workshops for individuals, groups, families and couples. >

Samaritans Together

The mission of Samaritans Together of Henry County, Inc. is to model the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by providing rent assistance and/or utility assistance to the needy people of Henry County.

Shining Light Ministries

SLM is a non-profit, faith-based recovery home which provides a long-term residential recovery program for women suffering from drug and alcohol addictions. The comprehensive rehab program uses moral recognition therapy, behavior modification, AA/NA, and life skills training. >

Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity

Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity (SCHFH)’s mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. The families that they serve are hardworking individuals who need a hand up, not a hand out. They complete sweat equity working on their home alongside the volunteers and attend education classes to prepare themselves for successful home ownership. >

Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center

Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center (SCSAC-CAC)’s mission is to provide a collaborative, coordinated community response in an effort to reduce the incidence of child maltreatment and sexual violence through prevention, intervention, and education.  It addresses the immediate and long-term needs of victims of sexual assault and child maltreatment, their non-offending caregivers, and family members in South Metro Atlanta. >

Southern Crescent Sports Foundation

Southern Crescent Sports Foundation is dedicated to Helping Other People Excel by creating an environment through H.O.P.E. Park in which citizens of our community can live active and healthy lifestyles through food choices, exercise, developmental play, and youth work development programs. >

Southside Support

Southside Support’s mission is to encourage special needs families to connect with the community through support groups, events and SNAZ (Special Needs Accommodation Zone). The organization’s model has always been to meet the families where they are, uplift them with support and resources; and once stabilized, help them engage in and give back to the community at large. >

United Food Force

United Food Force,Inc. is a non-profit, hunger relief organization located in McDonough. Its mission is to fight hunger through united forces and partnerships. United FoodForce was formed in 2012 to aid underprivileged families and combat hunger in local communities.
