Jonesboro, Ga. (July 13, 2017) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a $1,800 grant to Karen Gillespie, Board Chair for the Fayette Grandparents and Kin Raising Children organization for the purchase of book bags, technology and supplies for the upcoming school year.
“Many of the caregivers supported by this organization are single and elderly and many times they need special support” said Mark Dose, Executive Director of the Heritage Community Foundation. “We are pleased to be able to support their efforts in assuring the children being cared for by grandparents or relatives have adequate supplies for the upcoming school year.”
The Grandparents and Kin Raising Children organization provides development support, advocacy and resources for children being raised by grandparents or other relatives. The organization provides a collaborative network of resources for the children while reducing the stress placed on caregivers.
