Jonesboro, Ga. (May 13, 2015) – The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant to Teresa Bestwick, Founder/Executive Director of Shining Light Ministries, Inc. (SLM) in McDonough on April 30, 2015. The $5000 grant was used by SLM to purchase a pre-owned vehicle which the ministry will use to transport residents to and from doctor’s appointments, counseling sessions and various meetings. Previously, the ministry’s only form of transportation was a passenger van, which was not always available nor practical for transporting just a few residents. The car will allow SLM more flexibility in scheduling appointments and will provide substantial cost savings per trip.
SLM is a non-profit, faith-based recovery home for women which provides a long-term residential recovery program for women suffering from drug and alcohol addictions. The comprehensive rehab program uses moral recognition therapy, behavior modification, AA/NA, and life skills training.
